    Pico de Gallo is loaded with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime juice. Try this wonderful Pico de Gallo recipe with Quesadillas, Tacos, Nachos, Burritos or any of our authentic tasting dishes below. Authentic Pico de Gallo is made one day ahead of time and allowed to sit in the refrigerator overnight.

    Ingredients for the Best Pico de Gallo

    Pico de gallo ingredients such as tomatoes, jalapeño, lime juice, cilantro, onion, salt and optional minced garlic.
    • Tomatoes - any tomato will work here. We like on the vine tomatoes.
    • Cilantro - use fresh cilantro.
    • Onion - your choice of onion here. We like a yellow sweet onion or purple.
    • Jalapeños - remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeño.
    • Lime juice - use fresh lime juice. Bottle lime juice doesn't taste well in this recipe.
    • Garlic - optional.
    • Salt - optional.

    Instructions for Authentic Pico de Gallo

    Dice tomatoes, chop cilantro, onion and jalapeño. Juice lime. Mince garlic, if using. Mix tomatoes, cilantro, onion, jalapeño, lime juice, garlic, and salt in a medium bowl. Let sit overnight for full flavor.

    HINT: Let sit overnight for full flavor, but in a pinch, serve immediately.

    Ingredients

    Scale

    3 medium Tomatoes, on the vine, if available

    ¼ cup Cilantro

    1 Jalapeño pepper

    ¼ cup Onion

    1 clove minced garlic, about 1 teaspoon (optional)

    2 Tablespoons fresh Lime juice, from one Lime

    ½ teaspoon Salt (optional)

    1 cup chopped onion


    Instructions

    Dice tomatoes, chop cilantro, onion and jalapeño. Juice lime. Mince garlic, if using. Mix tomatoes, cilantro, onion, jalapeño, lime juice, garlic, and salt in a medium bowl. Let sit overnight for full flavor.
